when i picked mya up from school last wednesday she was with hye won & they told me all about their plans to do a science project that was due THE NEXT DAY.
i resisted at first (mya's history project was due the next day too) but those 2 buddies were so cute & how do i say no to a science project?
so hye won came home with us & we got to work. thanks to papa for running to the store to get our supplies.
during school they had decided to do the easy mentos & soda explotion because we could get it done quick.
thanks to nana for taking pictures for us...
we had done this experiment while homeschooling & had had a hard time getting it to explode really high, it can be hard to get all the mentos in fast enough. so i was pretty excited when i got it to work!
look how wonderfully chunky my baby girl is...
she's a baby sumo wrestler!
mya stayed up late finishing all the writing for the science project board. we told her how proud we were of her and that she wanted to do it even though it was extra work for her.

such a great mother's day!
and i was so happy that jer didn't have to work this mother's day!
and i was double happy that my own mommy was with us (why, oh why, didn't i get a picture with her???)
we had a great day. my primary kids sang 3 songs wonderfully in sacrament & it made me so happy that they remembered all the words! i'm going to miss being chorister.
had a relaxing afternnoon around the house (daddy made his famous tuna fish sandwiches, yum!) and then we went downtown to ride the Angel's Fleight...the shortest railway in the world! it's just 50 cents each way! and was a bonus for mya's project.
reesie had everyone cheering her on as she walked with the red wagon. i have pics of all my babies learning to walk with this thing and i love it! she loved it too...

mya had to do a big school project on The Red Cars of Los Angeles.
to get ready for it we visited the South Pasadena Historical Museum.
someone's super awesome at standing now! (and she actually took a couple steps yesterday!! shhh, don't tell the blog, it doesn't know yet)
mya interviewed Bill (above) and is holding a photo of a Red Car Train.
on friday night my parents babysat for us so i could take jer out to celebrate! for over a year i planned on taking him to Bostro de la Gare, a french restaurant in South Pasadena. what were we celebrating? that he signed his contract for his job in reno! (ok, he still hasn't signed it, but he does have it & just needs to sign & mail it in)
it was such a wonderful meal! and so wonderful to be alone & chat about our bright future :)
the restaurant is right by the museum so we got a pic...
then we went to USC to watch the women's tennis play in the first round of the national campionships.
walking to the courts Paige collected lots of fun things. she is such a happy girl!
rees was really into the match!
wynnie loves to do my hair and it makes me happy.
such a fun saturday! and again, it was all possible thanks to nana & papa's extra set of wheels. thank yoU!

it's been 10 days since our car broke down.
car has been towed 4 times to 3 different places.
right now it's at a 2nd nissan dealership (because the first one couldn't figure it out and said, "it'll be between $2000-5000 to fix it" what!?!?)
and still....
nobody can figure out what's wrong with our car :(
my parents are sweet & have stayed longer than planned to help out. with our car in the shop we don't have one that fits us all, so my parents have been a huge help. last week was a big week...open houses, school projects (that required going to downtown LA), etc.)
i'm super grateful they've been able to stay so long! but they have to go back tomorrow so...
please somebody figure out what's wrong with our car & make the price tag cheap! although i have to say, we're really having our doubts abour either of those wishes coming true.

i was so blessed to be able to sing in the show Lamb of God with the Zion Youth Symphony & Orchestra in Las Vegas. i sang the part of Mary, Mother of Jesus. i did the show last year with them as well, but this year it was performed at the brand new & beautiful Smith Center.
Lamb of God is such an inspired work. the narration & music is beautiful and filled with the spirit. such a blessing to sing it.
I also could never express how grateful i am to jeffrey & david skouson for continually asking me to sing solos for their many projects over the past 15 years. they are gifted & use their gifts for beautiful purposes. (i'm kicking myself that once again i didn't get a picture with them!) but they are both very high up on my list of blessings.
saturday's rehearsal...
may 5, 2012
we had to drive to vegas afriday night after jer got off work, so we didn't make it to mike's house until 3 am! then our little reesie was out of sorts. she would not sleep and was either crying or wanting to nurse or play. i had to be at rehearsal by 9am saturday morning and was exhausted.
when i sang through my song it was horrible. i was so wiped out that my voice was rough and couldn't hit the low notes. the song is a bit low for me anyway, but was an extra struggle on such little sleep. luckily i was able to take a nap that afternoon and got a good night's rest that evening.
my point of writing all that down is that since i went into performance day on such a low note it caused me to even more so rely on my faith and prayer that it would be ok come performance time. my biggest concern was that i would distract from the spirit of the show, but in the end i felt good about my performance (low notes and all).
a part of me has always felt that my singing has been the way the spirit speaks to me. most of my testimony building experiences have been through song and especially when singing them. i am so grateful for that the spirit speaks to me through music and how it has solidified my faith. it is always a humbling and soul searching time for me when i sing and i leave those performances determined to live my life better.
such AMAZING soloists! how in the world i got to sing along side them was such a gift to me. they have all performed in some amazing shows, so i feel like i kind of snuck my way into the group & hopefully i didn't stick out like a sore thumb :)
Sunday, Performance Day:
may 6, 2012
in the morning i went to a special sacrament service with the group at the historic 5th street chapel. the composer, Rob Garnder, spoke at it and it was so wonderful to hear.
after that we went to the Smith Center to rehearse. Gayle Bennet & i shared a dressing room that i should have taken a picture of since it's one of the only times i'll ever have my name on a dressing room door :)
with gail bennet...things like this are always so great because they're like mini-college reunions. i saw several people from my MDT days.
my wonderul family & friends came. (thank you kig-gen & linds!) and i'm so glad i saw suzy there too!) my mommy stayed home to watch rees, i told her she's heard me sing enough over the years and jeremiah's parents even drove down to see me sing (and play with their adorable grandkids, of course.)
it wouldn't be a allen photo op without one of these...
my niece, cydney, was in the choir. it was so fun to be in the show with her & simply do some much needed chat time with her, she is such a beautiful and lovely girl. i love you cyd!
the experince of singing in this show will stay with me forever. it was beautiful.
flowers from my jerry after the performance.
