countdown chains have been our tradition throughout jer's medical training journey.
let's reminisce...
location: st. george, ut
year: 2002
counting down to: Moving Day
this chain counted down to the day we moved to start medical school. jer is taking down the last chain, we had already moved everything out so it was the very last thing we did before leaving our place.
(not pictured, but at this time my belly was big & round with mya in it)
location: naperville, il
year: 2006
counting down to: Residency Match Day!
the chain counted down to the day jeremiah found out where he had "matched" for his pediatic residency program. photo taken on match day, i LOVE how happy jer looks :)
(wynn: age 14 months, mya: age 3 1/2)
location: las vegas, nv
year: 2008
counting down to: Fellowship Match Day
this chain counted down to the day jeremiah found out where he had "matched" for his neonatology fellowhip program.
(paige: age 10 months)
(wynn: age 3 1/2, and although not pictured, mya was 5 1/2)
jer & me on match day, again, i love how happy he looks
AND NOW.....
location: south pasadena, ca
year: 2012
counting down to: june 30th...dr. j's last day of fellowship.
we call this chain "it's the final countdown" in honor of Gob's magician act to song "The Final Countdown" by Europe. it's from the tv show Arrested Development. we laughed so hard at that part of the show & every since then we will randomly sing the song & tune.
so when jer came home a couple weeks ago i had my dad play the song & the girlies & i were standing underneath his final countdown chain...
(we started with 53 chains, or days left)
(rees: age 10 months, wynn: 7, paige: 4 1/2, mya: 9 1/2)
things have been pretty crazy for jer. we think his fellowship is making sure that he'll be happy to leave :)
i just checked with the chain & counted, we have 37 days to go...

after dr. chmait's party it was time for the fun fair!
it's south pasadena's school district fund raiser...
all the girl's loved having their hair painted...
they also had a used book sale where i scored dozens & dozens of old children's books. i love them...i'm dreaming of having our own little library one day.
after the fun fair we went home & made BBQ chicken salad. (one of my favorite recipe's from lorraine.)

Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center
(it's a little foggy on the right, one of the girlies got snow cone on our camera lens, opps!)
with Terry Lowsetter. She is such an angel, when my migraines from the medication were really bad i wept on the ultra sound table to her. she was such a loving support to us.
and i can't say enough about this baby saver...
he's a genius and a busy man, but still took the time to call me personally at home making sure i was ok. when one of my nurses was a bit crazy he insisted on the company giving me a new nurse. he wanted everything to be perfect for me.
he's saved A LOT of babies, here's just a sampling of the many families he's helped...
(extra points for finding jer & rees)
we tried to get a picture of rees with terri...
we opted for one with me in it, look at reesie's sweet teary eyes...
it was wonderful to see Dr. Chmait's group and thank them again. i don't feel like we can ever say thank you enough.

it's become a tradition that when nana comes for a visit she takes the girls to ride the horsies in griffeth park.
we had to get one last time in before we move...
paige worked up the courage to ride the horses that gallop around the big circle. she loves her horsie rides!
then we took a little train ride...
i LOVE my sweet parents. it was so wonderful to have them here so long.
later on that day i went with my dad to have our car towed to another dealership. (FYI- it'll be 2 weeks tomorrow & still no good news on that silly car.)
rees came along and had one of her favorite snacks...a chicken egg roll from panda express. she goes crazy for those things so when i want to give her something fun we grab her one.
classic rees...finger in the camera lenz
cassidy came over to play after school & we got tacos from the taco truck for dinner. we also thought it was time to let rees in on the joys of a kleenex box...
